The Strategy Academy is a virtual, strategic planning program based on organizational research, best-selling content, and qualitative experiences; designed to transform your organization. I developed this virtual process to help you:
The Strategy Academy seeks to increase the critical thinking and skills of nonprofits and businesses that impact historically excluded and vulnerable people. We envision a world where each individual member of an organization is able to contribute to systems-change and improve organizational health to drive true impact.
The purpose of the Strategy Academy is for your team to (1) collectively design a plan to advance the mission of your organization and deepen your impact through skill-building and strategy thinking and (2) provide you with tools to create a culture that demonstrates trust, accountability, commitment, and results.
This 8 to 12-week program will take you and your team through the 7 stages of strategic planning and equip YOU to host a live strategic planning session. I will walk you through all preparatory phases before you invite your larger group "into the room".
You will be prepared with the materials, activity templates, and information needed before the larger session.
Learning Objectives:
Deliverable: 2-3 year strategic plan that outlines how your organization will achieve its long-range goals.
You will receive access to a secure portal with strategic planning materials, informational handouts, and team development activities.
You will have access to a community from around the world, who you’ll be able to connect with, share resources and support.

You started your organization and/or business because you recognized gaps and patterns of need in your community. Strategic planning utilizes the data you collect as an organization and the data (numbers and stories) of the people and cause you serve to support your decision-making.
Strategic planning requires inclusion of diverse stakeholders, from the people you serve to your executive leadership, to develop an equitable plan that addresses the internal and external priorities of your organization.
The Strategy Academy is developed from the study and 20 years of experience of planning and development for over 100 organizations. This program is designed so that your team develops a comprehensive and sound strategic plan comparable to the plans our intensive clients have developed over the years.
This program is for junior and senior organization leaders who are responsible for strategy development across organizational functions, fund development, marketing, and programming who want to gain clarity on organizational purpose and align your team to deepen mission impact.
Yes, absolutely! We recommend the following people join you on this journey: Executive director, board leadership, programming coordinator, treasurer/accountant, human resources director, and volunteer leader. you may also invite others to join you through this course as your organization decides.
You'll learn:
- How to overcome barriers and confusion in your identity and true purpose as an organization especially in these newly difficult times.
- The best group facilitation techniques that lead to a better understanding and decision making processes for your organization
- The basics for evaluating and reporting your team's success in an equitable way that potential donors and funders will support
You should have some prior knowledge of your organization's mission and vision, the main programs or services that you provide, your annual budget and spending, and who are your best supporters (volunteers, donors, fellow orgs). There are activities that will explore and clarify all of this information and relationships to maximize your success.
This course was designed for you to go through at your own pace. If you wanted to do all the content linearly from start to finish, there are five big milestones in the course and final retreat that could be done over the course of one to three months. All modules are not available at once, but rather released in time for you to complete the homework needed to move to the next step.
This course starts quarterly to give you access to a cohort of individuals that will be at the same stage you are in the process, as well as access to Q and A and "office hours" with your strategy consultant.
This course includes 8 modules, complete with workbook, videos, links to resources, and other materials.
